Chapter 13

When I woke up, I felt the sting of the sun piercing into my silky white skin. The sun had traveled to the center of the sky, glaring down upon us we slept in our post-coital daze.

He rolled over to look at me, a gorgeous smile on his perfect lips.

“We fell asleep.” He yawned.

“We did.” My words came out cautiously. “What time is it?” I looked to his wrist but found it bare. I guess he had no need for a watch. He worked to his own schedule.

I sat up, Theo’s shirt falling to my lap. He must have covered me with it before we fell asleep. I was thankful for that, although I felt the burn of the sun on my shoulders and legs.

Theo looked up at the sky, shielding his eyes as he did so. “It must be midday.”

“Shit.” I leaped off the grass and to my feet. “My flight leaves in an hour.”

I rushed towards the house, slipping his shirt on as I walked. Theo said something from behind me, but I was too frantic to listen.

My cellphone still sat on the kitchen table from the night before. I picked it up and looked at the display.
